The Ohio state fairgrounds are getting an upgrade (their first since 1995), as demolition crews make their way onto the grounds. Starting this week, construction will start on a new multipurpose center. But in order for it to go up, something must come down. And that something is the 56-year-old DiSalle Center and 46-year-old Heritage Building, plus an unnamed third building. The new center will be 100,000sqft, complete with meeting rooms, banquet halls, and modern technology. It’s expected to be done sometime in 2016.
But what about the events held in those buildings? A fair spokeswoman said that those events have been moved for this year’s fair. So don’t worry – the butter cow is safe. (deb)
