Bexley rallies for same-sex couple denied wedding service

When Jenn Moffit and Jerra Knicely started planning their wedding, they probably didn’t expect to be denied service based on their sexuality. Which is what happened when the couple contacted a Bexley wedding videography company. They were told (via social media): “Unfortunately at this time I do not offer services for same-sex marriages but thank you for your inquiry. Peace.”

After Knicely shared the the incident on her Facebook, several residents (and the national news) spoke up about it. Other area businesses have also offered to help the couple with their wedding and Weunited.org founder Omar Faruk says a rally is being held later today in support of creating an anti-discrimination ordinance in Bexley; they’ll also be meeting with city leaders to discuss the proposed ordinance. Gay? No service for you, boycott ensues

A local same-sex couple was stunned after contacting Next Door Stories about services for a planned wedding. They were told via email the Bexley company did not offer its services for same-sex weddings. Jerra Knicely posted the rejection on her Facebook page which has since sparked a boycott of Next Door Stories. The story is also receiving national attention.
