Cancer: Surgery today for 10TV anchor Kristyn Hartman

Screen Shot 2015-10-09 at 9.33.52 AMA week ago, 10TV news anchor Kristyn Hartman told viewers that doctors had found her to be in a very early stage of a very treatable form of breast cancer. As she signed off from the anchor desk (temporarily) last night, Hartman continued to seem in high spirits and again used her case to remind others of the importance of being proactive with their health and in getting regular medical screenings.

She is scheduled for a mastectomy at the James Cancer Hospital today. That, plus reconstruction and recovery time, will likely have Hartman away from the news desk for approximately four weeks.

In Hartman’s absence, her 10TV colleague Tracy Townsend, herself a cancer survivor, will hold down the fort for the 5pm, 6pm and 11pm newscasts.  (jj)
