shutterstock_245627608CBS’ 60 Minutes ran a piece Sunday night called Heroin in the Heartland. Correspondent Bill Whitaker came to Central Ohio to examine and share local stories of heroin addiction.

As part of the piece, he spoke to a young woman from Worthington who told him about how she got hooked on the stuff in high school. (Spoiler alert…she’s now clean and going to college.) He also spoke with families that have been touched by addiction to the drug. Cameras also caught a deal going on in a mall parking lot. In an interview conducted in Columbus with Attorney General Mike DeWine, the AG told Whittaker about the ease with which heroin can be found and purchased in the Buckeye State.

It’s in every single county. It’s in our cities but it’s also in our wealthier suburbs. It’s in our small towns. There is no place in Ohio where you can hide from it….There is no place in Ohio where you couldn’t have it delivered to you in 15, 20 minutes.
