Kroger plans Kingsdale store after Giant Eagle settlement
Nearly a year after Kroger bought space at Upper Arlington’s Kingsdale Shopping Center, an ugly back-and-forth with rival Giant Eagle has come to an end.
Kroger purchased the property in January of this year with plans to put a new store in the hollowed out former Macy’s location at Kingdale. But they say that their efforts have been blocked by Giant Eagle (who already has a store at the shopping center). Giant Eagle had claimed that deed restrictions prevent another grocery store from building at Kingsdale. Kroger obviously disagreed and both sides went to court.
Business First reports that the two sides have reached a settlement and that Kroger plans to move ahead with plans to open at Kingsdale. (jj)
