More allegations surround OSU marching band

In what’s still a hotly debated topic, the search for a new OSU band director continues to hit snags and allegations. In the wake of both finalists (who would have replaced former band leader Jon Waters) withdrawing their names, allegations have arisen that the search committee has been tampered with. OSU search committee member (and OSU student) Lindsay Conkel recently resigned, citing a lack of transparency in the committee’s decision-making process. She further explained that she feels outside influences are affecting the committee and that some candidates were moved up the list, or even removed from it without explanation. Conkel knows it’s been a hard year for the band and its supporters, but she said, “We just want the best for our organization. We are going to get the best with the truth. And, I think the truth just needs to be looked into.” (deb)
