Police chief’s officer son decked while responding to complaint

In the early hours of Tuesday morning, Columbus Police received two calls regarding a construction area on the I-70E ramp near Sullivant Avenue on the city’s west side. One call came from road workers saying that a neighbor had threatened them, saying that he was going to go home and get his gun. The other call came from the neighbor (Dwight Davis)…phoning from his home and complaining about the noise from the construction site.

Columbus Police officer Peter Jacobs (son of CPD chief Kim Jacobs) was among the officers that responded to the incident by going to the neighbor’s home. There, the man reportedly began shouting and cursing before becoming violent. The man began throwing punches, connection with Jacobs’ face twice. Davis was arrested. Charges against him include assault on a peace officer, menacing and obstructing official business. Officer Jacobs was treated for his injuries.  (jj)
