Two bomb threats, classes canceled at College of Wooster

The College of Wooster canceled classes on Monday following the second of two bomb threats made against the school in less than 24 hours. The school, 90 minutes northeast of Columbus, has made no announcement regarding Tuesday classes.

Statement from the College of Wooster:

Last night the college received a bomb threat directed against our libraries. Our Security and Protective Services officers immediately evacuated all three libraries and notified the Wooster police who conducted a thorough search of the buildings using explosive detection canine units. Nothing was found during their sweep of the buildings and a follow-up notification to that effect went out to campus at approximately 5:30 a.m.

At approximately 9:15 a.m. this morning, a second bomb threat was received, this one naming Taylor and Kauke halls. Both have been evacuated. All classes on campus today are being cancelled and academic buildings closed. Lowry Center and Scot Center will remain open with security officers at the entrance.

Wooster police are on the scene and the investigation is ongoing.

We will provide more information as we have it.
