If you’re looking for opportunity, then Columbus is where it’s at. That is, according to Forbes and Sperling’s Best Places. They just released a list of “19 Opportunity Cities: Places It May Be Easier To Make Your Mark” and sitting at No. 1 — COLUMBUS!

And while Columbus is sitting pretty impressively at the top, a few other Ohio cities made the list:

  • Toledo (No. 4)
  • Akron (No. 13)
  • Cincinnati (No. 18)

Cbus: Named a city of opportunity

Columbus is more than just a pit stop. It is more than a flyover city.

Columbus is a place of opportunity and topped Forbes’ list for cities that provide a chance to make your mark. At the no. 1 spot Forbes sited the major companies that call the capital city home, the affordable housing and the added bonus of harboring a massive university like Ohio State. Those aspects that Columbusites have come to know “make it a city where people can build a career as well as a rewarding life.” It’s not as large as New York and new comers and startups are less likely to get eaten alive in the chaos. It’s why Josh Quinn, owner of Tigertree, ending up staying in Columbus after originally planning to only stay a short time and then open a store in New York or Philly. Columbus is where Jeni was given an opportunity to take chances on her ice cream.
