Another birth: Zoo welcomes baby bonobo

[new_royalslider id=”16″]

Just the other day, it was a baby polar bear. Today, the Columbus Zoo has announced the birth of a bonobo.

Young “Max” was born on November 8th to his mother “Lady.” This is Lady’s 4th child and the zoo says that she is caring for the newborn in the company of the zoo’s other bonobos. This is the 15th bonobo birth for the zoo in 25 years.

Zoo officials say that paternity testing is needed to identify the father. (Somebody call Maury!)

The zoo says that there is no set schedule for public viewing, but guests may catch a glimpse of mother and son when visiting the Congo Expedition exhibit.  (jj)
