9K kids are told to “Put A Lid On It”
Warmer weather means several things: food trucks are out, patios are open, grills get fired up, and kids (plus grownups) start bicycling around the neighborhood. And after this week, over 9,000 kids will be biking safely. The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) and the Ohio Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics (Ohio AAP) joined forces on a campaign called “Put A Lid On It,” that works on keeping kids safe when biking. At an event on Thursday (4/9), they gave out and fitted helmets to kids, plus gave presentations on bike safety.
This year, they’ve handed out exactly 9,300 helmets to kids in Ohio. Now the only thing left is to add those streamers and bells to your bike. (deb)
