Impressive numbers for OSU blood drive
Final tallies are in from Monday’s blood drive at the Schottenstein Center. Schott at Life was put on by the American Red Cross Club at OSU and offered donors incentives from Cedar Point, the Columbus Zoo and Panera Bread.
Club President Mika Griffith says that the event collected 295 blood donations making it one of the top 5 largest drives in Central Ohio. She says that as many as 885 local patients could benefit, including patients at the OSU Medical Center.
These types of large high profile blood drives with great gifts for donors are a great way to entice people to give blood for the very first time, and a great way to remind people how important it is to give blood during the summer months when there are more accidents.
– Mika Griffth, American Red Cross Club at OSU president
Mika says that she joined the American Red Cross Club because she wanted to volunteer to save lives and inspire others to do the same. Judging from the final totals of this year’s Schott at Life, it looks like the group has inspired a lot of people.
