Update: Sen. Sherrod Brown, Columbus City Council President Andrew Ginther, Dayton Mayor Nan Whaley, and Canton Mayor William Healy hold press conference to address (and entice) Indiana businesses to come to Ohio.

With the recent passing of Indiana’s “Religious Freedom Restoration Act,” several people have been calling for boycotts of the state and several large scale events/conventions have speculated that they might leave the state. But where would they go? Well, Ohio has an idea.

State officials, like Sen. Sherrod Brown (who’s holding a press conference later today), are preparing to invite Indiana businesses to invest in Ohio. Aside from Experience Columbus, who is open about wanting Indy’s Gen Con to relocate, Dayton has also been petitioning for Hoosier business. And it seems even Cleveland might make a pitch for some events, citing their hosting of the 2014 Gay Games in August. And while Ohio doesn’t have an anti-discrimination law in place, Columbus (and many Ohio cities) do; which they hope will encourage Indiana businesses to jump state lines. (deb)
