Columbus’ little Mozart heads to Carnegie Hall

Carnegie Hall is about to welcome a Columbus performer. Two weeks ago, Alex Van Bibber was invited to perform at Carnegie Hall in New York. “I was very happy and kind of surprised and excited when I heard the news,” Alex said.

One other thing: Alex just turned 11.

The musical prodigy will be performing as part of the International Young Gifted Musicians Festival. The festival’s sponsor, AADGT, awarded him a gold medal for his Chopin (“Waltz in E Minor“) performance. And while the event isn’t until March, some locals got the chance to see Alex play. He recently performed at Mozart’s Cafe in Clintonville. Dressed as a young Mozart, of course. (deb)
