Halloween isn’t just for the little kids dressed in costumes, going door-to-door, begging for candy. It’s also for the grown-ups who enjoy a good fright. Here’s a partial list of of those scary attractions that might be worth checking out…while you still can…mwa-ha-ha-ha!

Haunted Backwoods
Haunted Backwoods (London) lists among its offerings a circus in a huge barn, a voodoo shack, a zombie graveyard, a backwoods village, a trail through the woods and prowling animals in the dark. Plus, if you act now, you can also race through the snake and spider shack. General Admission is $19. Open Fridays and Saturdays through the end of the month.

Flannagan’s Fear Fest
Flannagan’s Fear Fest (Dublin) says that they are “redefining the haunted house exFEARience.” From their website: “Flannagan’s Fear Fest is open to all ages; however the scenes and depictions of horror and fear are not suitable for small/younger children. Allow your young-lings to tour FEAR FEST at your own risk.  Anyone under 17 must have a parent or guardian to attend.” General Admission is $20. The attraction is open Thursdays thru Sundays through November 1st.

ScareAtorium
The ScareAtorium (Northland Plaza, Columbus) boasts both the “Northland Asylum” and “RIP’s Funhouse.” Admission is $20. For a separate admission cost, visitors can check the attraction’s new escape rooms: RIP’s Boxcar and the Cut-Throat Cabin. Open Thursdays thru Sundays through the end of October and on additional dates in December for their Happy Horrordays event.

Haunted Hoochie
The Haunted Hoochie at Dead Acres (West Pataskala) is an area tradition for many. Billed as “the world’s most extreme haunted house,” the website warns that “the attraction may not be suitable for immature audiences or for mature audiences. The haunted house contains graphic and violent horror. These images may be offensive and disturbing to some.” So, be prepared. General Admission is $25. Open Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays through the end of the month.
