Veterans Day is next Wednesday but Columbus marks the occasion today.
A ceremony is planned for 10:30 this morning at City Hall. At noon, the City of Columbus Veterans Day Parade steps off at noon at the corner of High Street and Nationwide Blvd. The parade will wind its way south on High Street, turning west on Broad Street and ending at the future site of the new Veterans Memorial. This year, the parade pays special tribute to the veterans of World War II. Mayor Michael Coleman will serve as the parade’s grand marshal.
Those planning on watching the parade are encouraged to bring a toy for donation to Toys for Tots. Marines from Lima Company will be collecting those donations along the parade’s route. (jj)
