Determined homeless woman faces rapist in court

A 47 year-old homeless woman, raped under a bridge last March, was determined to see justice done in her case. More than half-a-dozen times, she made her way to the Franklin County courthouse to attend her attacker’s hearings. Sometimes, she would panhandle for bus fare. Sometimes, she would walk for three hours to get there. But she got there. And Paul Hubert knew that she was ready to testify against him when his trial got underway. With that in mind, this week he entered a plea of guilty and was sentenced to three years in prison. He’ll also have to register as a sex offender every 90 days for the rest of his life.  (jj)
