Helping the elderly ‘beat the heat’

LifeCare Alliance is the charitable central Ohio organization most often connected with Meals on Wheels, the Columbus Cancer Clinic and other efforts. With temperatures rising, they have recently launched their Beat the Heat Fan Campaign. Many people in the Columbus area are primarily homebound individuals due to age or illness. Many are on fixed incomes and do not have air conditioning or are hesitant to turn it on out of fear of high energy bills. LifeCare is working the Columbus Division of Fire and the Madison and Marion County Fire Department to collect fans for these people. They ask that you donate new fans by dropping them off at any firehouse. If you are in need of a fan, call LifeCare Alliance at 614-437-2870.  (jj)
