*UPDATE* Repair heats up local animal shelter
The CHA Animal Shelter is feeling the heat. The gas leak that left them, and about 100 dogs and cats, without heat last week has been repaired. On Thursday and Friday, the shelter put together an emergency adoption sale, in hopes of getting the animals into warm and loving homes; 46 found homes through the sale.
Online donations to help with the repair costs are being accepted at ChaAnimalShelter.org/index.php/donate. (deb)

Gas leak forces local animal shelter to scramble
Want to win at Valentine’s Day? Why not adopt a new puppy or kitten for your sweetheart! That’s what The CHA Animal Shelter is hoping will happen. The northeast side animal shelter is having an emergency adoption sale today. And while it’s coinciding with the most romantic holiday of the year, the shelter is hoping to get around 100 animals adopted after their heat was cut off yesterday because of a gas leak. Plumbers are still looking for the source of the gas leak and its uncertain when heat will restored.
Normally the adoption rates are $20 to $160, but from Noon to 2:00PM and 6:30-8:00PM, dogs will be $25 and cats will be $5. As of this morning, there were 75 animals still waiting to be adopted. Why not celebrate this heartfelt holiday with a new furry friend? (deb)
