A federal grand jury on Thursday returned indictments on 62 year-old Thomas E. Shaffer. Shaffer is accused of holding up five Central Ohio watering holes:
- The Pub in Gahanna
- Halftime Tavern in Columbus
- Brew-Stirs on 23 in Columbus
- Lazy Chameleon in Powell
- Villa Nova in Worthington
And maybe just to mix things up a bit and get a break from the bar scene:
- Aldi supermarket in Lewis Center
If convicted on all counts, Shaffer could get 20 years in prison. But wait…there’s more! Because he allegedly used a firearm in the commission of each crime, that’s another possible 25 years on each of the six counts for a possible max of 170 years in prison. Tah-dah! (jj)
