Middle West Spirits grows up in the Short North with new 55-foot still
We told you over the summer about Middle West Spirits’ growth plan in the Short North. Now, it’s all falling into place and we’re getting more details.
Call it the height of change. This week, Middle West installed a 55-foot-tall whiskey and bourbon still. Middle West previously produced somewhere in the neighborhood of 130 gallons per year. The addition will allow for a huge increase in production to more than 10,000 gallons per day.
Three specialty stills are also being installed so that the company can expand from lines of vodka, whiskey and bourbon into gin, brandy and rum.
The investment in new equipment, expansion of the Courtland Avenue facility and other changes demonstrate what Middle West calls their “long-term commitment” to the neighborhood. (jj)
