New Belgium ‘Clips’ film fest benefit comes to Columbus Commons tonight
New Belgium Brewing’s annual Clips Beer and Film Tour has planned a stop at Columbus Commons tonight. This will be the 15th stop on the event’s 2015 run.
Clips is a one-part sampling / one-part film fest / one-part benefit event. Those in attendance will be able to try various offerings from New Belgium in 3-ounce samples ($1.50) or 12-ounce pours ($6). 17 varieties of the brewer’s Lips of Faith line will be on-tap. (Some of these favorites are often considered hard to find.)
During the event, short films produced by fans of New Belgium will be screened. Approximately 20 films will be shown including one featuring a panda with an attitude about craft beers and another about a bicycle brawl. Organizers say to expect a diverse and highly-entertaining collection of shorts.
Each stop on the Clips tour benefits a different nonprofit. In Columbus, that’s going to mean a boost for the folks at Columbus Transit. Columbus Transit bills itself as “an advocacy group championing an integrated public transportation system to improve the safety, health, environment and economic vitality of the entire Columbus region.” 100% of proceeds from beer sales will go towards their effort.
Food vendors on hand at Clips will include Paddy Wagon, Tatoheads and Mikey’s Late Night Slice.
The Columbus Commons event will begin at 7pm with film screenings starting at 8:30pm.
This is the 6th year that New Belgium has done the Clips tour and (in total) more than $600,000 has been raised for nonprofit partners.
