New toy store playing games again in Upper Arlington

Many Lane Avenue mall shoppers were sad to learn last year that one of their favorite stores was closing. Greg Larson, owner of Larson’s Toys for 33 years, posted a note on the shop’s window in October announcing his retirement. To be precise, the note read: “Florida is calling!”

The shop closed for good in January.

Now it looks like Upper Arlington residents are about to get a new toy store. Just down the road at 1349 West Lane Avenue (just east of Half Price Books), Learning Express plans to open their doors next month. The national toy store chain will now have three locations in Central Ohio owned by Connie and Todd Jacobs. (Their other stores are in New Albany and Worthington.) The stores tend to steer clear of video games and things of the flashy sort. Instead, Learning Express deals in toys and games that focus on education and creativity.
