Pup of the Week: Venus

614now Staff

614Now has partnered with the CHA Animal Shelter to put some focus each week on a cute pup up for adoption.

Quick note: the shelter wants to remind everyone about their $5 Feline Friday special. All cats and kittens have a $5 adoption fee every Friday through the winter.

Screen Shot 2015-12-16 at 11.46.31 AMLet’s take a look at Venus.

Venus  is a large, athletic, fawn brindle Pit Bull mix. She is just shy of 2 1/2 years old. She has the cutest upright, triangular ears (think Yoda or an adorable alien). Venus loves her toys and playing out in the play yard. She really likes fetch and is learning to bring a ball back in exchange for throwing another. Venus is a very clever, motivated young dog. She would excel in a home where she could play training games and get plenty of exercise and mental stimulation. Venus has done well in play group with other dogs. She prefers calmer, well-mannered play partners and tends to be more focused on getting staff to play fetch with her than romping with other dogs. She also enjoys spending time in the volunteer coordinator’s office. She settles nicely on a mat and has been very polite and well-mannered. She does like to give kisses, right on the mouth….so watch out! (LOL) Venus will be a very rewarding, loyal companion for an active family.

Venus’ adoption fee is listed at $150. She is up-to-date on all of her shots, and has been spayed and micro-chipped. Adoption fees go right back into the shelter to help care for animals continuing to wait for their new homes.

More about CHA Animal Shelter:

CHA Animal Shelter is a nonprofit animal shelter in northeast Columbus, Ohio (3765 Corporate Drive). CHA is funded solely by donations from adoption fees, donations from the public, and various other fundraising efforts. Their mission is to serve the people and animals of Central Ohio by providing safe, temporary shelter and care for abandoned or otherwise homeless cats and dogs, and to reduce pet overpopulation by means of spay and neuter, education, and community outreach. They have been fulfilling that mission since 1975.

Adoption fees are designed to help offset a portion of the cost of food, shelter, and medical care for each rescued animal.  (jj)
