The real estate blog Estately has recently completed a survey to find the states with the most couch potatoes. Among the criteria considered:
- exercise rates
- obesity rates
- time spent watching television
- number of Laz-E-Boy retailers
- number of fast food restaurants
- level of interest expressed in soap operas on social media
- number of google searches for video game rentals
- number of hours worked each day
While we continue to watch and hope for a Cavaliers victory in the NBA Finals and a championship for the state of Ohio, here’s a title that we can already claim. Sigh.
Ohio finished #1 as the state with the most couch potatoes in the nation. We have the 4th most Laz-E-Boy retailers per capita, the 6th most fast food restaurants and the 12th highest obesity rate. Let’s just say, it’s not the best news. Hawaii is enjoying the stats though. They have the lowest number of couch potatoes in the country.
The top five:
- Ohio
- Alabama
- West Virginia
- Arkansas
- Louisiana
