Soon, it won’t be just (614) that’s calling

Time is running out for (614) callers. According to the North American Numbering Plan Administration, the (614) area code that central Ohio calls its own will run out of available numbers. Available phone numbers will run out sometime in the second quarter of 2016, and because of this, a new area code is being introduced: (380).

The new (380) area code will start dialing out on Feb. 27, 2016, and will cover the same area as (614). Meaning that central Ohio will have two area codes and callers will have to dial the full 10 numbers – even when making local calls. (deb)
