Studio 35 cinema looking for Grandview sequel?
It looks like Clintonville’s independent movie house Studio 35 may be looking to grow. Owner Eric Brembeck has apparently been in discussions with the owners of the Grandview Theatre about taking control of the landmark local cinema. Brembeck has put in an application to transfer a liquor permit to the Grandview Theatre that would allow liquor and table sales. This would help to create a similar business model to what Studio 35 is already offering movie goers on Indianola Avenue.
The Grandview was taken over in 2008 by David Nedrow and Jennifer Stancel. But the pair has struggled lately in trying to keep up with the expense of theatre operations. That has been compounded as of late by health issues for Nedrow. The two recently launched a GoFundMe campaign to help with theatre costs. (jj)
