The 22 Million Dollar Man

The 22 Million Dollar Man

He doesn’t have Donald Trump’s money, but he’s doing alright.

When it comes to his personal wealth, John Kasich seems to be doing just fine. He filed his personal wealth disclosure forms on Friday with the Federal Election Commission. The 2016 presidential candidate declared his family’s financial value to be somewhere between $9 million and $22 million. The figure includes tangible assets and investments held by Kasich and his wife Karen and trusts that the couple have set up for their twin daughters.

Kasich’s salary as Ohio governor is roughly $145,000 per year. Prior to his time as the state’s chief executive, he served eight year in Congress, worked at the investment firm Lehman Brothers and served as a host on the FOX News Channel.

As for campaign fundraising, we don’t know if the governor was expecting support from local mega-billionaire Les Wexner. What we do know is that he didn’t get it.

Instead, records show that the L Brands CEO cut a check for $500,000 to one of Kasich’s biggest rivals for the Republican presidential nomination…Jeb Bush. Specifically, Wexner’s donation went to a super-PAC supporting the former Florida governor, Right to Rise USA. Kasich’s campaign says that many potential Republican donors in the Buckeye state have been holding their money back waiting for the Ohio governor to declare his campaign. Now that he has, they expect to start bringing in the dough.
