Wi-Fi: Its getting easier to make a campus connection

Ohio State is making it easier to make a campus connection. And all without you having to talk to that e-harmony creep.

The wireless network at OSU presently has about 9,000 access points and more than 1,900 of those are receiving an upgrade. The process takes about ten minutes to complete for each point, but with so many points inside the buildings (inside of ceilings, walls and such), many users likely aren’t even noticing when the work is being done. They’re simply being routed to another nearby point. The university says that the cost is approximately $550 per upgrade. For those of us not majoring in math, that means more than $1 million spent on the project.

With most of the work already completed, the university expects to have almost all of the upgrades finished within the next two weeks.  (jj)
