Fairborn, Ohio. Wright State University is apologizing for a Black History Month menu that was deemed offensive by many. The dining service responsible for the menu says that they did not mean to be insensitive when they served up fried chicken and collard greens. Social media filled recently with images of the dishes as they were served at the school beneath pictures of civil rights leaders including the Reverend Martin Luther King Jr.
University President David Hopkins offered this: “I apologize to anyone hurt by the display. To our credit, the menu was quickly removed. But the larger question remains: Why was it done? I will find out. We will take steps to prevent this kind of behavior occurring in the future.” (jj)
