Intensity ramps up for the Buckeyes in Spring training sessions
Spring training sessions for the 2016 Ohio State Buckeyes began yesterday, and with last year’s iron senior class leaving the team, head coach Urban Meyer is searching for players to fill some big shoes.
As such, intensity at the first practice was through the roof, with players trying to prove themselves worthy of a starting position.
“I was expecting high energy, and that’s what we got,” Meyer said in a news conference. “The whole culture around here is effort overcomes mistakes.”
Though Meyer said the eager incoming class showed passion, he also said there is still work to be done.
Injured returning players added another level of mystery to the starting lineup, with players like Curtis Samuel, Noah Brown, KJ Hill and Corey Smith missing out on practice.
Other key returning players are participating fully, such as quarterback J.T. Barrett and defensive center Raekwon McMillan.
Meyer called the 2016 season “a season of development,” and with the April 16 Spring game fast approaching, there are only a few weeks for Meyer’s group of players to come together and find team chemistry.
