Though superstar basketballer LeBron James said he would be returning to Cleveland next season, he declined the player option on last year’s contract, making him a free agent for the summer.
He was scheduled to make $24 million with the Cavaliers, but that figure might be up for negotiation after leading the Cavs to an historic NBA Finals victory from a 3-1 deficit and being named Finals MVP.
Whether he will sign another short-term contract with Cleveland or an extended one is up in the air for the time being.
However, the past three summers James was a free agent, and elected to sign one-year contracts with the Cavs.
