The battle of Game 7 ends in a title for Cleveland

Last night LeBron James and the Cavaliers snapped a 52-year dry spell for Cleveland.

After being down three games to one earlier in the series, the Cavs managed to climb their way back to a chance for championship–it all came down to Game 7–and they delivered.

The Warriors put up a fight, keeping the game neck-and-neck until the final quarter.

But the finish couldn’t have been more dramatic, and will go down as one of the great moment in sports.

Kyrie Irving sunk a clutch three-pointer to put the Cavs ahead 92-89 with mere seconds remaining.

When the Warriors failed to deliver on the rebound, LeBron snatched the ball and went for a dunk to seal the deal.

And then all of Cleveland panicked.

The ball bounced off the rim and LeBron fell with all his weight on his wrist, rolling around on the court in agony.

He was fouled on the shot, and had to take two free throws. With only 10 seconds of game time left, the stakes couldn’t have been higher–and LeBron could have broken his wrist.

With some encouragement from his teammates, he got up and missed the first free throw.

And then he made the second.

The final score of the game was 93-89, and when the drone of the buzzer rang through the stadium, James broke down in tears.

He had finally secured a NBA Championship win not only for himself, but for Cleveland, and for Ohio–the state where he was born.

James scored 27 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists, snagging his seventh Finals triple double, and his third time being named Finals MVP.

It was the fairy tale Cleveland needed, and one that will undoubtedly be told for years to come.
