Smoked on High turns busted house into bustling BBQ joint

Max McGarity has been making barbecue in Columbus for about five years, and now with the help of a successful Kickstarter campaign he’s turning his food truck and catering business into a brick-and-mortar restaurant.

He had to raise $10,000 by July 20, and according to his Kickstarter website, he’s exceeded his goal, with $11,348.

But here’s the rub: his chosen establishment for the new Smoked on High restaurant is a 100-year-old house in the Brewery District at 755 South High Street.

“Turning a 100 year old house into a restaurant is a PRETTY big project,” McGarity writes. “We’ve been busting our “pork” butts and we are almost there.”

He says the Columbus Building and Zoning commission is super exited to have him in the neighborhood, and now that the funding is set, you can expect to eat at Smoked on High as early as August 15, 2016.

“With permits already in place, a thorough business plan and an excellent support team, we are ready to slang some smoke.”
