Another #1 — Columbus is Ohio’s Drunkest City
Columbus is Ohio’s drunkest city to no one’s surprise.
According to data by 24/7 Wall St., adults in Ohio are more likely to have unhealthy drinking habits than adults across the country. In Columbus proper, with 19.2% of adults drinking excessively — the largest share of the state’s 11 metro areas.
Excessive drinking is more common in high income areas, and the typical Columbus household earns $58,192 a year, more than in any other metro area in the state. This should come to no surprise to anyone — especially considering our wealth of college-age kids and plethora of microbreweries.
Other than our intake of alcohol, our other vices are pretty in check —only 18.3% of area adults smoke.
But what’s most surprisingly about their study is that it found a rather bummer of a metric by which Columbus can brag about, only 24.5% of people living here are not physically active.
Yes, you read that right, a quarter of our population is statistically lazy.
Uhh, good job?
