Chipotle Burritos are Calorie Bombs, Gets Sued
Chipotle is the purveyor of fast-casual, food “with integrity” and has helped create a dialogue on where your food comes from — they also make burritos that are so damn bad for you that you’d be better off eating shoe leather.
In fact, they’re getting sued by three people claiming they’ve lied about the calorie count of their burritos, specifically the chorizo burrito. You’ve seen the Chipotle menu board which lists the meats like Chorizo with the words “300 calories,” and I’m sure you understand they’re referring to the meat not the entire goddamn burrito.
A single Chipotle burrito (depending on what you get inside) is generally minimum 600 calories going upward of…1,800 calories. The tortilla alone is going to put you back around 300 calories (think about that the next time you get double wrap.)
This misunderstanding has led to three people filing a class action suit against the company because they thought a burrito that weighs as much as a bowling ball was healthy.
For those confused about what you’re putting into your body — Chipotle has a nutrition calculator on their website that allows you to see how much tex-mex you’re stuffing into your body (fair warning, it’s probably too much.)
A chicken burrito with rice, black beans, fajitas, tomato salsa, corn salsa, sour cream, lettuce, cheese and guac with a side of chips comes out to 1,955 calories with 3670 milligrams of sodium.
If you’re over 50, that’s over double the amount of sodium you should have in a day — a young adult is only recommended 2,300 milligrams.
So no, Chipotle isn’t healthy.
