Columbus-based Brenz Pizza wins 1st place at North American Pizza Show
You may not have heard of these guys yet, but Brenz Pizza just got put on the map in a big way.
The Columbus branch, located at 1551 Lennox Town Lane, won first place in the North American Pizza Show, netting yet another accolade for Columbus small businesses
The local pizza joint beat out 49 other pizza chefs from around the nation to win the “Best of the Midwest” title–and a sweet $6,000 prize.
A panel of 40 judges evaluated pizzas for taste, presentation, crust quality, and marketability, and Brenz came out on top.
The pizza that snagged the title is called “The Rustic,” and is loaded with pepperoni, sausage, caramelized onions, roasted red peppers, garlic pepper, and fresh basil.
“Competing and winning in a national competition against some substantial pizza restaurants and chefs… it’s a bit of a David and Goliath story,” said Andy Roberts, a spokesperson for Brenz.
“It’s a big deal in the industry,” Roberts added.
