New Powell restaurant aims to serve craft beer in family environment
At the new Firehouse Pints & Pizza in Powell, grown-ups can get a pint of frothy stout, and kids can get a pint of creamy milkshake.
Located at 9721 Sawmill Road, which used to be a Gooseneck Tavern, the new restaurant will be serving up a selection of 28 craft beers, but the draw for kids will be a milkshake bar and a designated play area complete with books and toys.
“Ten years ago, the attitude was, ‘How dare they order a beer,’” owner Jason Lusk said, on parents drinking while out to a family dinner. “Now it’s much more acceptable. We designed Firehouse around families.”
Lusk already owns the Crafty Pint in Linworth and a pair of Rude Dog Bar & Grills, and his business partner Jay Kessler owns Knotty Pine Brewing Co., so the focus on beer comes easy, but the kid-friendly direction is a new one.
As for the food, wood-fired pizzas ranging from $11 to $20 are the main attraction, featuring spins on classic topping combinations like Greek, Hawaiian, and barbecue.
Expect to see about 180 seats in the 4,000 square-foot space.
