North Market Staple Extends to Clintonville

Little Eater is growing up — all the way to Clintonville for its first stand alone restaurant.

littleeater-119And it’s grown up so fast! The woman who motivates Columbus to eat their vegetables, Cara Mangini, opened up Little Eater at the historic North market just last year in February, and now they plan to open up the new location Spring of 2017.

“Our mission has always been to grow and expand our reach in order to support and honor hard-working farmers and contribute to the health of our community,” said Mangini. “Clintonville is a vibrant and extraordinary neighborhood that we are excited to call home.”

But Little Eater isn’t as little as you might think. It actually started about four years ago as a seasonal pop up restaurant, always with the same goal of supporting local and organic farms while giving Columbus a much needed and incredibly tasty health boost.

“We firmly believe eating vegetables is one of life’s greatest pleasures,” said Mangini. “We strive to make produce more delicious and convenient for people to enjoy every day.”

Mangini (a many skilled woman who authored, The Vegetable Butcher) is partnering up with Chef Amber Herron, formerly chef and owner of Columbus’s DeepWood. Herron will be head of culinary development and operations, and will help expand the seasonal veggie menu with more traditional green salads and crostini. Oh, and don’t forget the booze, Mangini sure hasn’t as she will be including wine and beer to Little Eater’s future Clintonville menu.

littleeater23websized-36The current Little Eater restaurant and Little Eater Produce and Provisions, the year-round farmer’s market and artisan foods boutique, will maintain its location inside of the North Market. The new location will be on the corner of High Street and Deland Avenue, though it’s not fully built just yet.
