Cleveland Browns to Build Community Rec. Facility In Columbus

The city of Columbus and the Cleveland Browns are teaming up to build a community recreational and training facility in Tuttle Park near Ohio State University, according to the Columbus Dispatch.

The park and the facility will remain public property, and the Browns will likely lease the space one month out of every year for ten years.

According to the Dispatch, the current rec. center sitting in Tuttle Park is too small for the Browns, so it will be torn down and expanded into 45,000 square feet costing the city, the Browns, and Franklin County anywhere from $15 million to $17 million.

The new facility will include three outdoor fields, a gymnasium, fitness center, art rooms, and meeting among other features.

There will even bleachers set up so fans can watch the Browns practice sessions, which will be open and free to the public.

Though the Browns will use the new rec. center (likely to come in 2018) four weeks out of the year, the facility will still function as an asset to the community during their training.

The rest of their training will be done in their original facility back in Cleveland.
