Concealed carry holders can now buy guns without background checks

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine issued a news release today stating that concealed carry holders no longer have to submit to additional background checks in order to buy firearms.

The measure was enacted in order to cut through red tape for people with valid concealed carry permits, according to the press release.

“Ohio concealed carry license holders who are in good standing have already passed through state and federal background checks, so there is no reason to force them to submit to additional checks if they want to buy a firearm,” DeWine said.

DeWine worked with The U.S. Department of Justice and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms to make Ohio the 25th state with such a rule.
