Ginther receives subpoena in new ethics investigation
New Columbus Mayor Andrew Ginther has given the Columbus City Council a proposed series of ethics reforms as he himself is facing a new investigation by the Ohio Ethics Commission.
Ginther, the former president of Columbus City Council, along with current member Priscilla Tyson and (now resigned) former member Michelle Mills have received records subpoenas as part of an investigation into their city council responsibilities and their relationship to nonprofit groups. Laws do not prevent officials from working with nonprofits, but there are regulations concerning such officials and their ability to take part in certain government decisions concerning those groups.
In 2015, the commission launched an investigation into possible wrongdoing concerning Ginther and other officials who went to the Buckeye’s national championship game with a local lobbyist.
