Columbus City Council will meet to take their seats for the new term late this afternoon. At the meeting, new members Michael Stinziano and Elizabeth Brown will be sworn in…the first members to be elected to council (without first having been appointed) in nearly 20 years.

Council member Zach Klein is expected to be elected as council president, replacing Andrew Ginther who took his post as the city’s new mayor on Friday.

The council will be left with one vacancy as member Eileen Paley is moving on to the Franklin County Municipal Court. Columbus City Council is interviewing the finalists for the open seat this week. Their choice to fill the post will be announced and sworn in next week.
