Kasich Will Veto Bills that Kill Renewable Energy Standards
According to Biz Journals, Gov. John Kasich is standing firm against bills that try to eliminate the state’s current renewable energy standards.
He said that the standards are unrealistic, as they require electric utilities to eventually have renewable energy sources account for 12.5 percent of their output, according to Biz Journals.
So is he for or against renewable energy? In 2014 he signed a bill that froze the standards until the end of 2016, but, he said in Biz Journals, that he will veto any bill that tries to get rid of the standards all together and will instead resort to higher standards for renewable energy.
A spokeswoman for Kasich said to Biz Journals that the governor hopes to achieve ‘reasonable energy standards.’ Utilities and groups for the freezes say that the standards are too expensive to do, but trying to kill the standards won’t work, according to Biz Journal.
