Medical pot proposal would allow unlimited small grow sites, dispensaries
A new proposal that could make it onto the November ballot could legalize medical marijuana for people with “debilitating medical conditions,” and would allow unlimited small grow sites and dispensaries, in addition to fifteen 25,000-sqaure foot large dispensaries.
The ballot language was released today by Ohioans for Medical Marijuana, a campaign committee formed by national organization the Marijuana Policy Project.
But even if the bill were to make it on the ballot and pass, it would be a few years before Ohioans could partake. The newly formed Medical Marijuana Control Division would begin accepting grower applications in August 2017, while dispensary applications would be accepted in February 2018.
Ohioans for Medical Marijuana expects 215,000 residents to use the program, based on estimates from Michigan, where medical pot is already legal.
