Michael Moore calls Trump Voters, “Legal Terrorists” Ahead of Columbus Movie Screening
Gateway Film Center secured an exclusive screening of the “Michael Moore in TrumpLand” movie, part documentary, part standup comedy routine.
This come after an interview with Rolling Stone, which saw Moore call Trump voters, “Legal Terrorists.”
“I want them to think about the damage they could do by being a legal terrorist on November 8,” Moore said.
Moore was then asked to elaborate on his statement and said the following:
“Any. Legally, you have a right to vote on November 8. You can go in there and even though you’re not necessarily in favor of Trump and you don’t like him that much and you know he’s a little crazy, you also know he’s going to blow up the system. The system that took your job and house away from you. You get to get back at the system now and blow it up and this is the only day you can do it legally. He’s told everybody that’s what he’s going to do. He’s the outsider who is going to ride into town and blow up the old way. So you, as a voter, get to participate in the detonation. He’s going to get a lot of votes from people who actually just want to sit back and watch the thing blow up.”
Moore’s new film was shot in Wilmington, Ohio, a town known for its Trump-leaning ways, and so the film is meant to the examine the presidential race between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump.
The film was shot over two days and then produced within 11 days, a feat that’s not easy to achieve considering most films take months if not years of post-editing.
“Before anything else, the film center exists to bring our Columbus neighbors important films they wouldn’t be able to see otherwise,” said Chris Hamel, GFC president and programmer. “As soon as news broke about the film, we went to work tracking down a booking.”
Michael Moore has committed to join a screening of the movie at the film center by satellite. Date and time are to be determined.
The film will open at GFC Wednesday, Oct. 26 with daily showtimes at 9 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m., 3 p.m., 5:30 p.m., 7:30 p.m. and 9:40 p.m.
