It was a matter of time before Columbus decided to cut thin out the heart of its traffic, and that day has finally come. According to the Columbus Dispatch, the city is turning the curb lane on High Street in the Short North district to a parking lane with wider sidewalks.
This comes after a decision to give Short North visitors and gallery hoppers a little more walking room. City officials said to the Dispatch that High Street already only functions on two lanes, since one of the lanes is congested by parked cars at meters.
All in all, the new traffic and street projects are set to finish in 2019, and will cost the city $25.5 million, according to the Dispatch.
