Statehouse Protest — Nearly 3000 Stand Against Trump

Nearly 3000 people gathered at Ohio’s Statehouse last night to protest the General Election results and Donald Trump’s resulting victory. Trump beat Clinton 290 to 232 in electoral votes, but as of this writing Clinton is ahead in the “popular vote” by nearly 400,000 votes.

During the protest, which lasted several hours and eventually moved from Downtown further North to the Short North, the crowd chanted loudly for each issue they felt had, “No Fascist USA, No Trump, No KKK!” to pro-choice chants and pro-Black Lives Matter chants.

“It was pretty beautiful to march through the short north — having people get up from dinner with tears streaming down their faces and embrace us as we marched passed.” An anonymous source from last night’s demonstrations said.

The civil unrest could, potentially, be attributed to the disparity between the Electoral College and the popular vote. Many protesters passionately pleaded for an end to the Electoral College and some even hold out hope that the electors would become “faithless” and cast their vote for Hillary on December 19th.

Asking one protester how they heard Hillary could still become President, they pointed to a change.org petition backed by 2.2 million people that outlined the ways in which it is “technically” possible.

This was according to some unnamed officials the largest protest event held in Columbus that they’d seen.
