5-year Old Missing Person Cold Case Solved in Columbus

A North Carolina girl, last seen 5 years ago getting off her school bus at a South Brunswick High School, was found safe in Columbus Dec. 9th, according to NBC4i.

The girl, Rachel Natacha Owens, who is now a young woman, left home of her own accord and kept her identity concealed — even going so far as to chang her name and birthdate.

Authorities and  FBI Child Exploitation Task Force determined there had been no foul play in her case and would not pursue charges. No word on why she ran away.

“For all the agencies in Ohio to act as fast as they did and be in contact and cooperate with us, it was impressive on a case especially when some people assumed you are never going to find her because she is potentially deceased and you’re chasing a ghost,” Novelli told The Wilmington Star News. “Thankfully none of us gave up and I think we gave a great Christmas present to her family.”

Both FBI and police across Ohio and North Carolina were instrumental in discovering her whereabouts.
