Now Reading
Cleveland Browns to Columbus, “Actually, Nevermind.”

Cleveland Browns to Columbus, “Actually, Nevermind.”

Welp, that was short lived — the Browns have backed out of a deal that would have their training camp in Columbus.

“While we greatly appreciate the efforts of and our discussions with representatives from the city of Columbus, Franklin County and Ohio State University, we believe it is best for our football team, our organizational goals and our fans to continue to host training camp in northeast Ohio,” Browns spokesman Peter John-Baptiste said in a statement.

This is, in a word, shocking. Mainly because the Browns are hilariously, the worst team in the NFL, bar none. Not a single team even comes close to their 1-14 record, and the closest anyone comes to that is a 2-13 record by The 49ers but even they didn’t have a losing streak that lasted from December 20th, 2015 to December 24th 2016.

A full year without a single win.

So while the Browns are committed to keep their training camp in a suburb of Cleveland, maybe — just maybe, we should be thankful especially considering most people think our Ohio State Buckeyes would trounce the NFL team.

There’s not a whole lot of information on what changed (cough, their record, cough) but according to Cleveland it had nothing to do with the quality of the deal made in Columbus.

The new training facility would have been where the 15,000 square foot recreation center in Tuttle Park was before it was razed to the ground. It would have had three outdoor fields, one with an artificial turf, and would have been open to the public.

Oh well, maybe we can convince the Bengals to move.
